My MacBook fell about 2ft and landed upside down. I immediately checked it, turning it on, pulled up safari, made sure keyboard worked, and everything seemed to work fine, however the next day it would no longer turn on. I tried doing an SMC restart and nothing, I opened the back and disconnected and re connected the battery, and still nothing. The charge cord light turns green when I press the power button, but then goes to red shortly after I release the button. What damage should I look for when opening the Mac?
You’ll need to get a new battery to even test your system. Or find someone with the same model which you can charge your battery off of.
This may been a power issue. The fall might have damaged the DC-IN board/connection. Battery could be dead. Unit may not be getting power. Try another known-good AC adapter and see if it will then boot. (it should boot up even without a battery in/connected). If no boot then, you have to see if you can get another charged battery to test the main board. Unless you test as described above, you will not know if it is just a power issue.
