So this is more of a soldering related question. The ic chip on my switch is bad so I’ve attempted to desolder it. What I’ve noticed is that it takes a REALLY long time to get the stupid chip off. Heat gun was set at 360 degrees Celsius and I’ve added flux too and it took me like 8 minutes before I just gave up Is it supposed to take longer than 8 minutes or what? Any tips would be appreciated. Thank you
It should never take 8 minutes to desolder a chip, except when it has a ridiculous amount of pins or sits on too much flux. Depending on what chip it is, it’s likely it has some flux underneath it. If possible try it with a hotter setting while trying to move the chip around carefully with tweezers.
