Hello everyone, in a bit of a bind here. My sound was not working so I was on the internet trying to update my drives. Some 3rd party software started automatically downloading from some of the web pages and then my computer started acting slow. I get a notification saying that the startup of the the computer has changed. It was from iobit. Telling me that some program was added to the start up. And then I got multiple of them. I force restarted my computer and then I get the “Missing operating System” error. Even tapping f8 to get the recovery brings up the “missing operating system.” It’s worst because my mom through away the system recovery disks as she does with EVERYTHING. I have some windows 8 recovery disks from my laptop but I doubt they will work. I ran the diagnostics as I can still boot there and it found no issues..What else can I do?
You can get the recovery file from Microsoft or download the ISO to reinstall Windows on your computer. While there are some 3rd party driver vendors that are honest, too many are just out to get you to install their malware. Next time you want to update drivers just open Device Manager and right click on the device and then click Uninstall, if you see the option to delete the driver then click on that. At the top of Device Manager is a Tab called Actions, click on it and select Scan for Hardware changes. Uninstalling the device forces Windows to go to the internet to find the driver. Using Update Driver tends to stop with the message “The most recent driver is already installed”, this does not fix corrupted drivers. The other way is to go to the vendor’s website and download the drivers from them.
if you can remember your product key then the disc should work as windows 8 recovery discs only have one version which is slightly modified depending on the version
