The flip screen on my DCR-HC21 is responding to my touches but isn’t displaying anything other than an all black screen. Fixable? Worth repairing? Also I inadvertently shut off the viewfinder and, obviously, can’t locate the command on the touch screen to switch to it to even view a tape that’s running or what I’m recording.
@steveyv shine a light at an angle across the LCD. See if you can make out silhouettes. This will verify if it is your backlight., Most likely so you need a new LCD but if you see silhouettes etc. it is possible that you have a board error on PD-237 which is the LCD/backlight driver board. Here is how you get to the LCD
If you find that it is your backlight that is not working check CN608 on the PCD PD-237. Pin 6 should have 2.6V and pin 3 -15.5 Let us know what you find and post some good pictures of your camera if you need assistance with identification etc. Use this guide Adding images to an existing question for that replacement LCD’s are available at ebay etc.
