I have an early 2014 MacBook Air that will no longer boot. I got an OWC Envoy case and removed the ssd to try and recover the data but when I connect it to our iMac, I keep getting a message when I try to open files I keep getting the following message “The folder “Desktop” can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents”. Is there a way to change the permissions on the files?

Yes! Right click on the drive from your desktop goto Get Info and then at the bottom twist the twisty on Sharing & Permissions: Then unlock the padlock so you can make the changes. You’ll need to use the User Name & Password of the other system (admin). Once you’ve gotten access you can then add your account info using the +
