My landlady has kindly given me a Samsung TV which she used to have in one of her rooms. I’ve just turned it on and there are dark patches all over the TV. Does anyone know the reasoning for this and whether it’s an at-home fix? Image shows the patches on (what’s meant to be) a plain white background I pulled up from YouTube.
charlotte.casey2000 yes, it could be an at home fix. The issue are not the black spots but the round white spots. The backlight LED’s have diffuser caps on them. If those fall off, you get the type of pattern that your screen shows. In order to fix it, you will have to disassemble your panel. Not as bad as it sounds. Replacing the backlight strips will fix this.
