I recently opened my MacBook Pro 2016 to find a crack in the black bar underneath the screen (see picture). It looks like some hardware is exposed. This crack has caused a vertical black bar to appear on my display and random pink flashing horizontal lines to appear on the screen. These flashing lines change color and placement frequently and randomly. Is this possible to fix on my own? I don’t know much about computers but would love to be able to buy the parts and repair it myself. Please let me know what exactly I broke, what parts I would need to buy, and any tutorials you may know of. Thank you so much for your help in advance!
My guess is that there was something in between your casing and screen when you last closed it. You’ll need a new screen. Replacing the display assembly isn’t necessarily difficult, but you’ll have to have to have the correct screw driver bits for the different screws you’ll encounter and getting a new assembly won’t be cheap either. I’d get a quote from Apple first, then look for a replacement and compare prices for parts and tools needed.
