Chosen Solution
My MacBook was stepped on (I think) and the screen is slightly cracked but not bad. The problem is the screen stays black so it cannot be used. I thought it was totally broken so it’s been sitting around for about a year but then I got re-inspired to get this thing fixed. It passes the flashlight test. I have tried resetting it as well as typing in my password on the black screen- I’ve seen that has worked for some other people Model A1278 Any ideas on if simply replacing the screen may fix my issue or if something more serious get broken? I don’t have a lot of experience with repairs but I also would rather risk fixing it more inexpensively myself. Thank you so much for any help!!
I would say it’s not guaranteed, but does the unit turn on at all? The safer bet would be to buy a thunderbolt cable to plug in to an external display to see if the computer still works first before purchasing a screen.
