Hi. I’m going to buy a used MacBook Pro 13” 2017. The guy says that the battery needs to be replaced and that (he thinks) can be a correlation between the battery problem and the usb c not working fine. This is going to be my first Mac, I always had Windows and even at work I deal with that as a technician so I’m not into Mac so much for being sure is the battery that causes that problem or if is something else. Someone with experience can help me? As I mentioned, I’m a technician so change battery or do something else is not a problem. I’m trying to understand if the port are dead or if needs just a battery replace. Thank you so much!
Not enough information to answer your question. This series had quite a few problems with the charging logic as well as the butterfly keyboard. While I have seen issues with the USB-C ports Apple in their wisdom made it part of the main logic board as a bonded assembly needlessly! The TouchBar systems have a replaceable assembly unlike this model. While you could desolder the port unit with the correct tools you can’t get is as a spare. So your options for repair from Apple will end.
