Razer Kraken Tournament Edition Hello - my son is trying to fix his Razer Kraken headphone jack - and has come to me (mum - insert horror emoji here ) to help identify the wire colours. I’ve attached a photo, we don’t have the tools we need to check the wires by playing a sound and the old jack (it’s not USB) doesn’t give us access to the original wires/ my son cut them off too soon (I’m not sure). One way or another, I’m faced with 4 wires: Red Copper Yellow Green And I don’t know which of these wires we need to solder to which part of the jack …. Youtube has been helpful - but not helpful enough. Really hoping you amazing people can help!
@bmrmn you could use a something like a 9 Volt battery and check to see if you can hear each speaker making a noise. The copper one should be ground. Connect the negative battery contact to that. Then briefly touch the positive contact with the other wires one at a time. You should hear a brief sound on the speaker. Of course, put the headset on to identify the side. It may take a couple of attempts to identify it. Sadly, the wires in headset are not standardized so it’s always a bit of a crap shoot to get the proper ones. Commonly Copper- Ground- connect to Ring 2 Green - Left audio- connect to Tip Red- Right audio - connect to Ring 1 Yellow - Mic- Connect to Sleeve again, there is no standard but that is how it was on my old one. Check the wires as outlined above Absolutely not “(mum - insert horror emoji here )”! We all know that mum’s are awesome. :-)
