OK so I took the plunge and bought that incredibly expensive white iPhone 4 conversion kit from that Chinese kid who was getting them from Foxconn. Everything looks very authentic. I wish I knew about this site before I attempted to take my iPhone apart! I didn’t keep good track of the screws and parts and wow, I couldn’t figure out where all the screws fit back in. Basically I just put everything back together, but with virtually no screws. I was barely able to get the back panel on, but it did fit. Everything works now except my GPS is completely broken! It still locates me in that giant blue circle, but I think it is just using Wifi locating for that. What could I have done to break my GPS? Does it depend on having all the screws in?
If you take off the black shield plate and look underneath, in the middle there is a gps antenna connection iirc, its gold and accepts a pop on connection. As for screws the ground one is the very big screw which goes up the top middle of the black shielding, this grounds the frame and the antenna underneath, make sure you haven’t bent the shielding
From what I heard, the screws are completely needed. It could so happen to be that one of the screws connect the steel frame (GPS and WIFI frame) to the motherboard so you can get a signal. You can google up where the screws go.
Did you ever figure this out? What was the solution, I am having the same issue
