Hi, a “pop” sound from any electronic item is a bad sign (unless they are designed to make that sound of course). It could be any thing a capacitor or a chip or a battery. It could be anything, anywhere… What I can say from your description is that either you have to take it to the service center and get it fixed by replacing the component or just repaired. Worst case scenario, if the repair costs a too much you might have to buy a new one. Hope your problem is small and easily repairable.
