I have a 2011 macbook pro that will not boot. It tries to start up but then the fans stop and nothing happens. If I remove the RAM then the fans will keep spinning but it the computer beeps until I shut it off because there are no RAM sticks in. I have a feeling it is the logic board but really don’t know if it would be worth it to replace it. Any ideas on how I could fix this? Thanks, Devin
Sadly if the system was working and it stopped your systems RAM slots have failed. A common cause is the mid frame clips have failed allowing the bottom cover to press down on the memory modules causing the trader of pressure to damage either the modules and/or the slots (marked in Purple). Also check the ground bar to make sure it’s not damaged as well (marked in Green).
If they are damaged then you’ll need a new logic board and getting new clips from a junker or making your own. As far as why: A good bang on the bottom cover or something pressing on the bottom cover like a charger in a case and then something heavy sitting on the case could cause the clips to fail.
