Heya guys, I wiped the keyboard with a baby wipe, usually I have no issues aside from a funny mouse for a few seconds, but this time it took a few days to dry then I noticed the ‘I’ & ‘O’ keys not working along with a engaged shift key. My brightness shortcuts also don’t work. I left the mac for a few days and came back to find the everything working aside from the I and O keys but it slowly started to play up with he above issues.

  • Using the ‘5 finger’’ swipe to bring up apps happens in slow motion
  • Boots in safe mode (stuck shift) Safe mode has a strobe light effect/flashing screen
  • Shortcuts do not work aside from sound -External keyboard works fine I would have thought a keyboard issue but then not sure how the 5 finger swipe would be effected? Thank you!

Baby wipes! Boy you’re cheap. Sadly baby wipes is not the best thing to wipe down your Mac as much as you call it your ‘Baby’. Sadly, I think you’ll need to try popping off the keys and carefully wipe down the insides of the switch as best as you can. Here we’ll use a high grade isopropyl alcohol 85% or better and using cotton swabs which are just dampened. Wipe under the keycaps & scissor mech. following this procedure Keycap removal & fitting. Hopefully that will do it if not you’ll need to replace the keyboard which is a very big job in this system.
