The radio works fine, but my tapes will not play. The only way any sound will play is if I press down (not all the way down) the pause button. If I put too much pressure on the pause button it will play the tape really face, and not enough pressure on the button will make it go slow. At the right pressure it can play it at normal speed. Anyone have an idea what’s going on?
This unit needs a new set of belts and a good cleaning. The belts are slipping as is the pinch roller. This is a very common failure and can be made whole again relatively easily. I don’t have the belt sizes handy, but if I remember correctly, this unit takes 3 belts, 2 square ones and one flat one. Dan
