Have a 1998 Honda Accord LX 4 cylinder, my husband was on thehighway two days ago, the car was running fine and then it just stopped, the radio and everything was functionng, except the car stoppe Myhusband turns it on and it does start, it just won’t go. We thnk is the ditributor……..is this a correc analysis?
Flo, the engine runs, but the car does not drive. Sounds like you are having issues with the automatic transmission. Does the gear selector ( gear shift) feel like it normally does? It could be that the shift cable is broken or out of alignment, that the transmission oil pump is worn or binding, a stuck pressure regulator or the the transmission fluid strainer is clogged. I really think that you need to have it looked at closer by somebody. Start with the easier part, the cable and go from there. I attached some pictures to show the cable and adjustment. It should give you an idea of what to look for. I do hope that this makes sense. Let us know how it is going and good luck to you.
we had the same problems with our 98 Accord…turns out it was the ignition switch….quick fix.
