I tried using my parents password to get on the internet at their house, it wouldn’t acknowledge it, so I tried using my hotspot from my iphone 6 using my password from my internet and again it wouldn’t acknowledge it, why???

I assume you are speaking about your cable modems WiFi access point (AP) Are you sure you are connecting to the correct AP? Also you need to watch the CasE of yOuR LetTerS for the password.
