I’m assuming I can diagnose and repair this camera without a lens attached. Canon EOS Rebel T3i was dropped. When I insert an SD for the first time, the camera creates the DCIM\EOSMISC directory and creates the M0100.ctg file inside it. The screen generates a backlight, but no image. Pressing Menu (and perhaps the Info) button seems to toggle the backlighting (and/or image). The screen actually looks intact - I fail to see cracks. I’m thinking about three parts that could be bad:
- Screen
- LCD Display Screen Board PCB DH2826
- Blue cable connecting the body to the Screen Board PCB I know the Screen and Screen Board are available for purchase separately. I hope the blue cable is still intact. What else can I do to pinpoint which part(s) need replacing?
The easiest fix would obviously be to check the ribbon cable. After all, the cable might have simply become dislodged. My advice would be to start with the easiest fix and work your way up to the hardest. Did you try taking pictures with the camera after you dropped it? If the camera can still properly take and save the photos, you would at least know that your shutter box, sensor, and logic board aren’t damaged.
