So I recently acquired a 7th iPod Classic with a dying drive and bad battery. I’m planning on replacing the drive with flash memory and the battery, but I soon discovered that the 5th generation iPod (referred to iFixit as the Video) has one of the best sound chips ever made in the history of the iPod. So, I was wondering: Does anyone know if the 5th Gen’s audio cable (iPod Video 30 GB Headphone Jack & Hold Switch) can replace this (iPod Classic (Thin) Headphone Jack & Hold Switch) With no problems? EDIT: To explain better, I’m asking if anyone knows the pinouts of these components and whether or not they’re the same.
I’m going to say no. You are showing 2 different parts and two different prices so I don’t think they will fit.
