Hey, I’ve decided I’ll open up my iMac (late 2012) to add an SSD to the system so I can get a few more years from the computer. I’ll use an mSATA to Apple PCIe adapter with a mSATA SSD. I’ll also upgrade the CPU from i5-3470s to i7-3770. Since opening the iMac 2012 and up isn’t that simple as it requires new adhesive every time it gets open, I’ll just upgrade the iMac to the max so I don’t need to open it again in the future. I was just wondering, Can I upgrade the wireless card to one that supports newer standards (like ac) while it’s open? If yes, what parts will I need?
Don’t do it! mSATA to Apple PCIe adapter with a mSATA SSD just don’t work reliably. Either go with an original Apple or an OWC such as this: https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/SSDI… here are some options: https://eshop.macsales.com/upgrades/imac… Please ask another question about your WiFi upgrade.. You also need this when getting into it: [linked product missing or disabled: IF174-005-1] Here’s how it’s done: iMac Intel 27" EMC 2546 Blade SSD Replacement
Does anyone know the part number for the wifi card upgrade to add ac to the 2012 imac 21.5
