I attempted to upload a picture of the release lever.
You might be able to re-install it if you can get the unit apart. Yours looks a bit bent, carefully flatten it out should fix it. Dymo does not offer printer parts as its assumed the device is a throw-a-way! Update (11/30/2022) @kevlove - maybe this image can help explain how a printer works as it’s based on a typewriter!

Lever Assembly. When it was “broken off” it was all bent. I placed the metal part between two rigid pieces (I used some pieces of sheet metal, by I imagine wood, or acrylic will work) and then applied pressure over it with some pliers to flatten it. You have to take the side covers of the labeler to be able to set it correctly. There are no screws for the side covers. I disconnected the plug and ribbons, and unscrewed the printer head to the rest of the body thinking it was necessary, and to make easier to look into where the lever went in, but after re assembly, I don’t think it was necessary, just remove the side cover from the side of the lever. The picture shows the notch where the lever goes. I moved one of the ribbons away (it goes through a slot in the assembly to have an unobstructed view Saludos
