I have been trying to set up Siri for a week but it does not respond to my voice when I say “Hey Siri” but the phone picks up my voice when giving commands after pressing the home button. Any advice on how resolve this issue?

There’s 4 microphones located in the 8 plus. The two at the bottom are part of the charge port assembly. There’s another one that is a part of the front facing camera assembly at the top and the fourth one is at the back by the rear camera. I would imagine the “Hey Siri” function would use one of the mics at the bottom. I did just test it on my iPhone 11 and it appears to use the bottom microphone. With that being said, I would start with the charge port. You can first try to disconnect and then reconnect it. If that doesn’t work, you can order a kit on ifixit or you can take it to a local repair shop. And don’t fall for the BS that the port can’t be replaced. It’s totally replaceable so if you go to a shop and they say it’s not replaceable, just walk out. Just be aware that a port replacement on the 7 and up require a teardown of the whole device so it’s a bit involved. I charge like $70 for that job in my shop and back it up with a 6 month warranty.
