My brother-in-law has a iPhone 6 and he says he can’t hear anyone accept when he turns on the loudspeaker. He also says that they can’t hear him while he’s talking. Which part(s) needs to be exchanged?

Mark, First I’d do a hard reset (press and hold the power and Home buttons until you see a white Apple logo). That would clear out an glitches. I’d also try using a headphone with microphone. If that works then it may be two problems, the mic and the small speaker at the top. It may also be a problem with the audio controller chip on the motherboard. If that’s the case the only part to replace would be the motherboard, which is pricey.

He went to a Apple Store as it’s 2 month old. They couldn’t “fix” it as they thought it was bend. So it could be the microphone at the bottom of the phone near the charging port and the microphone on the top of the screen, inside of course.

He can hear the caller through headphones, but the caller cannot hear him.
